Swiss Serenade'08 & 1st day of Year 2> 10:50 PM.
okieee. let me update about SWISS SERENADE!!! ooooh yeah!
saturday night was Swiss Serenade!!! YEAH!!! Swiss Winds rocked the theatre, man!!! ok so first, i met with Azimah at CCK mrt then we set off to Clementi & met Melly there... & then to Dover mrt to meet up with Naffy & Hayati. coz this year's Swiss Serenade was held at SP's Convention Centre! it has been held at NP for 2 years already i think. ok so... when we reached there, i saw a lot of familiar faces!!! oooh yes... saw all those band ppl... i just realised i missed them so muchhh. haha. especially Amalina!!! goshh. i really miss her so so so muchhh can??? hahaha. our craziness together when we were still in band... screamed when i saw her. LOL. ouhya before that i saw Nicholas first. miss him too larhh!! his lameness!! & of coz he's as usual damn tall larhh!!! have to look up high high when talking to him. ahaha... & did i mention he has a dimple?? omgg... i love ppl who have dimples uhh! LOL!!! XD XD XD when we were sitted & waiting for the band to start the annual concert, i saw Nazri, Farid, Feroz, Suffian, Yu Jia, Derry & a lot others... it suddenly feels like a reunion just like what Naffy said... hahaha.
ok so if u think i don't miss band, u are soooo wrong!!! i missed band.. i missed playing my trombone... i missed our sectionals together & full band even though we always got scolded by our seniors & Mr Chew... it was all for our own good.. discipline was the key to be in a band coz u have to be committed. i was the Principal Player for trombone section when i was in sec 4... not because i played well, i reckon... but most probably because during my batch, there was only me, Sheau Jun & if u could remember, Samantha... & Sheau Jun could play all those low notes well so she's of coz in 3rd stand. I, on the other hand, was better in playing the middle notes.. & that's why i was put into 2nd stand at first. when Samantha quit band, i was told to change to 1st stand coz 1st stand was important & they need a player there. Bing Han came in for 2nd stand but he always skipped band & didn't go for most of the practices... we ended up with no 2nd stand in the end for our batch. it was rather pathetic. haha. i felt as if i was 'forced' to play the solos. i always felt reluctant to play the solos coz i somehow have that feeling inside of me that this isn't meant for me... & that i just couldn't it... just imagining all the audience who would be watching me when i play already freaked me out everytime i have to prepare for solos before a performance. i used to have butterflies in my stomach everytime my turn to play the solos came... maybe it was my low self-confidence that affected me... Justin & Leon used to tell me i could play the solos if i were to believe in myself. i could still rmb that day when Justin told me to change my mindset & believe that i can play my solos well. don't always think that u can't do it... he's probably half right. & he's probably mad at me for always saying that i can't play the solos. but somehow i didn't actually change my mindset of this solo thingy... i used to play my solos so horribly that nobody actually said anything about it. well, that's what i thought.
anyway, moving on... Swiss Winds played songs like the Pirates Of The Carribean, Amazing Grace, YMCA, & many more!!! i like when they played Pirates Of The Carribean!! that song's nice!!! very catchy! not many solos this year.. then there were performances by our very own combo band, Blue Shades!!! a band from Swiss Winds... ahaha.. Saiful, Ain & another guy sang while the rest played the instruments.. & of coz my juniors were there! Haziq played the electric guitar! Jewel played the trombone! im so happy for Jewel! she played very well! her trombone can be heard loud & nice sound! haha... & then after about 3 songs or so from the combo band, the percussionists surprised us by making music using pots, plates, glass, table, kitchen utencils, etc! very creative indeed! it's themed GOOD SERVICE GUARANTEED btw... the drummers did their thing too & it was lovely!!! one of the memorable ones for the night! & lastly, MAXIMUM IMPACT by some of the band members, i think mostly sec 4s & 5s... their last perf before they hand it over to the juniors.. they marched from the sides to the front with the accompaniment of the percussionists.. it was fantastic! what a lovely ending to the concert!
i took a lot of pics & videos of the drummers' perfs, the percussionists' perfs & also a little bit of the last part... thought of putting it up on youtube.. i'll see how ehk.. anyway, today was my 1st day of Year 2! i start with TEP first as u may know.. don't know the rest of my classmates at Class 1 yet except for Beng Jun, Hazel & Xiao Fen, who were in the same class as me as Year 1. hope tmr will be better! (: ohh & i'll put up the pics tmr ehk! im now sleepy & tired. tmr start at 9am again.
